install tips

STEP 1...

IMPORTANT: Always start with clean, (preferably new) plastics. To clean use a white spirit or lacquer thinners on the plastics. A contact cleaner is also a good option. Once this process has been carried out, clean the plastics in warm soapy water. Ensure the plastics are rinsed and thoroughly dried before installation. A good tip is (if you have it - wipe over the cleaned plasics with ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL) this will remove any last areas of grease or finger marks from the plastics before fitting.

STEP 2...

Cut a 20mm wide strip off the backing paper on the end of the graphic, line up all bolt holes, and stick down this section. If the bolt holes don't line up, pull the graphic back and re-allign. You can also tape the edges to steady the graphic in case it slips when installing.

STEP 3...

Slowly peel off backing paper in 20mm increments, rubbing down the graphic with your thumbs, ensuring you work to the outer edges of the graphics, and removing air bubbles as you work the graphics onto the plastics.

STEP 4...

If required you can heat up the graphic slightly with a hair dryer to help mould and shape the graphic to the contours of the plastic panel. This also helps aid the removal of wrinkles and creases. Always be careful when heating, as 'overheating' the graphic can cause the material to warp or stretch out of shape. In this case use a hair dryer and not a heat gun!

STEP 5...

Always trim all edges that overhang or lift, if the graphic is not alligned correctly with a hobby knife or stanley blade. Overhanging or ill fitting graphics will get dirt underneath them and may cause the graphic to lift. Should you notice any air bubbles in the decals after fitting, do not worry, as now is a good time to deal with these.

Simply heat the air bubble gently with a hair dryer, and then using a pin, simply insert the pin into the air bubble, making sure to go under the vinyl. Remove the pin slowly, and you will notice the air draw out with the pin. Then confirm the air is out by removing any excess with your thumbs.

STEP 6...

Always allow at least 48 hours for the sticker to bond correctly to the plastic before riding or washing your bike. As a rule for general maintenance, do not point a power washer at the edges of the graphics when cleaning. As in doing this may result in the edges lifting, or worse still the graphics lifting off completely.
